Sunned spine faintly creased, covers very lightly creased and edgeworn, white rear panel a bit soiled and yellowed. Pages pale yellow (seen before in this edition) a few faint smudges to top of textblock. We have found this edition should be handled with care or the binding glue can easily give way.; Originally published as "Mrs. Tim of the Regiment"; containing "Mrs. Tim of the Regiment" and "Golden Days". It has also been published as "Mrs. Tim". This edition has a wonderful new foreword by DES explaining how she came to write the delightful four part series. There is a picture of the author on the back cover showing her at work on her couch, with a writing desk balanced on her knees. This was her preferred method of writing.; Recommended by Holly H. of the ATS, AT, and DES email discussion lists. "This is the first in the series about Mrs. Tim and her family, the diaries of an Officer’s wife, a most amusing chronicle. Hester is an endlessly fascinating woman, fascinating because of her delightful commentaries on everyday life and her special style of finding humor. Her efforts to flee the unwanted attentions of a fabulously wealthy senior officer are pure fun and the beginnings of a true friendship. Keen insight and delightful wit punctuate every page. Even without the enchanting June interlude in the Highlands, this would be a perfect novel." Image is actual copy on offer.
