1 7316 PLEYDELL, Susan [Isabel Senior nee Syme] Road to the Harbour, The
Softcover; Trade PB Greyladies: Edinburgh; c1966, 2015; Fine
Anthea Loganís brother has been in prison for selling secrets to the enemies of the Crown, causing deep distress to his family, who have also withdrawn from the world. When he is released and has left the country, Anthea too is determined to rebuild her life and goes back to Balgarvie, a fishing village in the north of Scotland where she spent the last weeks of a happy carefree youth. She stays at its famous, and expensive, sporting hotel and visits her cousins at the Manse, but it is to Balgarvie harbour that she looks for peace and healing and to obliterate the past. But the past catches up with her, not only her brotherís past but her own past romance, and explodes dangerously about her ears.Originally published in 1966.; A new copy with faint edgewear. ; Image is actual copy on offer.

2 7336 PLEYDELL, Susan [Isabel Senior nee Syme] Summer Term
Softcover; Trade PB Greyladies: Edinburgh; c1959, 2010; Very Good
When Clare Fielding, the headmaster's daughter, took her mother's place at Ledenham School for a term, she was looking forward to running the school and the house. But the arrival of her sophisticated cousin Frances and the subtle persecution of the raw new master, Angus, made the summer term at once more exciting and more difficult than she had expected.

Susan Pleydell was herself the wife of a public school headmaster and writes with authority, charm and skill in this her first novel, originally published in 1959.; Front cover lightly creased and scratched with a tiny hole, light soil to top textblock edge. ; Recommended by Geraldine H. of the DES email discussion group. This author recommended by Claire author of 'The Captive Reader' blog. This is our last copy of this out of print title. Image is actual copy on offer.

3 6628 PLEYDELL, Susan [Isabel Senior nee Syme] Young Man's Fancy, A
Softcover; Trade PB Greyladies: Edinburgh; c1959, 2011; New
The spring term is always disaster-prone, but this one at Ledenham School surpasses itself. The Headmasterís invaluable secretary collapses with appendicitis and has to be replaced by Oonagh Ė ĎSwoonerí to the boys; a young masterís fancy, lightly turning to thoughts of love, causes a major crisis at Governorsí level; the Headmasterís daughter Alisonís romance is beset by unwelcome public scrutiny and comment.

We meet several of the characters from "Summer Term", decent chaps and the right sort of girls, plus a few outright cads to give added spice. Although a sequel it can be read on its own; we enjoyed this title more than "Summer Term".
; A new book with very faint soil to page edges.; Recommended by Geraldine H. of the DES email discussion group. This title reviewed and recommended by Claire author of 'The Captive Reader' blog.
