Spine ends reinforced with tape by previous owner. ; Soon after World War II, a young woman leaves a drab and bleak London to visit relatives in Australia. She has many unexpected encounters, including one with the educated Czechoslovakian, Carl Zlinter, a "New Australian" working in a lumber camp in Victoria. In this book the author, who emigrated to Australia two years previously, has created a 'love letter' to his adopted country. Recommended.
