1 6500 MATHESON, Richard Bid Time Return [Somewhere in Time]
Hardcover Buccaneer Books: Cutchogue, NY; c1975, 1995; Reprint Very Good
Blue cloth library binding has light bubbling on front cover (publisher flaw), spine ends and covers very lightly bumped, board edges have a few small white marks. A few smudges to page edges; interior pages clean and bright. No dust wrapper, as issued. A nice copy.; Also published as 'Somewhere in Time', this novel is the basis for the wonderful movie starring Jane Seymour and Christopher Reeve (with a cameo appearance by Richard Matheson). While the movie was filmed on Mackinac Island the novel is set at the lovely Hotel del Coronado in San Diego, California.; 'Bid Time Return is a stunningly romantic novel of love and passion that literally transcends time, by an author far better known for his tales of science fiction and horror. Richard Matheson's premise is captivating: What if you were a dying young man, visiting a turn-of-the-century resort hotel? And what if you fell in love with a painting of a beautiful stage actress--but she had lived and died a century before? But--what if your love was so strong that you could literally will yourself back in time to become part of her world? In the tradition of the classic romantic ghost story "Portrait of Jennie," Matheson makes his two lovers totally believable, and so the undeniably fantastic premise soon becomes completely acceptable.' This book was one of the reasons my husband proposed to me at the 'Hotel del' as he knew that this tale of love and time travel was one of my favourites. Obviously, highly recommended.

2 2881 MATHESON, Richard What Dreams May Come
Softcover; Mass Market PB G. P. Putnam's Sons: NY; c1978, 1998; First Paperback Edition Near Fine
278 pages; A new book that has faint edgewear. ; A haunting and uplifting story of soulmates, love, and life after death. Basis for the movie of the same name. Once again, the book is much better although we enjoyed the movie a great deal. This is a novel, however there is an extensive bibliography at the end of the book. One of our favourite books.
