A fun book set in Regency London. Miss Sophy Stanton-Lacy is a young woman who knows what she wants, what is best for her family and loved ones, and how to accomplish it all with charm and humour. One of our favourites by this author.; Burgundy binding has vertical crease on spine that does not damage binding, spine ends and corners bumped, book is cocked. Front pastedown glued by previous owner the length of front hinge, rear pastedown has short tear at rear hinge. Pages brown but not brittle, edges a bit darker and lightly foxed; interior pages clean. Browned, foxed and edgeworn dust wrapper has large chips at spine ends, spine head taped by previous owner and several short tears and small chips.; 'This story features the fearless Sophia, left in the care of her aunt. She finds the family being ruled by the eldest son, the stuffy, tyrannical Charles, who's engaged to an equally stuffy, prim and pious young woman whom nobody likes. Sophy can't possibly let matters stand like that, can she?' Image is actual copy on offer.
