Set in the north of England in the early years of the 20th century, Jane gets a badly-paid job in a draperís shop where she 'lives in'. Aware that people's shopping tastes and methods are changing she works hard, saves her money, gets help from a friend, and opens her own dress-shop. Readers that enjoyed the recent television series 'Mr. Selfridge' and 'The Paradise' may well enjoy this novel. We did.
